Burnt Offerings (1976)

"Up the ancient stairs, down the twisting corridor,
behind the locked door, something lives,
something strange, something evil,
something from which no on
has ever returned."
(The text on the poster)

This is a strange horror film from 1976 based on the book of the same title Burnt Offerings by Robert Marasco. It stars Bette Davis, Oliver Reed and Karen Black. Directed by Dan Curtis.
A married couple, their son and aunt look for a house to rent during the Summer holiday. They come across an enormous house. After they move in, there is something dreadful and mysterious about the house.
I rate this a 7/10 for sheer weirdness.

Nightmare on the 13th Floor

The TV movie "Nightmare on the 13th Floor" is a 1990 thriller. It stars Michele Greene, James Bolin and Alan Fudge. Directed by Walter Grauman.
It's about a journalist who decides to make a story for a travel magazine, and visits a large historical hotel that was built in the 19th Century. She befriends one of the other guests, a woman who wears a crystal pendant, although things go wrong when she vanishes. Then it's obvious that the hotel has a very dark and deadly side. The frieze and the ornaments are creepy.
I rate this film a 7/10 for it's good during popcorn night.

Dark matter

Dark matter or dark energy is not just found in deep outer space. It’s actually everywhere. It’s physical but invisible. Its so strong that it holds entire galaxies. Dark matter has gravity. Scientists don’t know what dark matter really is or what its made of except it might be exotic particles (basically unknown). This has often been associated with giant webs because of its traits. This is dark matter.
Its totally believed that Dark Matter also manipulates time and space. It distorts the appearance of space when viewed through a powerful telescope. The universe is half living in darkness, with 27% dark matter and 68% dark energy. Its thought that dark energy and dark matter behaves like activities of the paranormal, as it’s not seen and does behave like a ghost. Dark matter changes the movement of stars and galaxies by speeding their orbits.
While hard core scientists will ignore the topic of the supernatural phenomena, they themselves don’t believe dark matter exists/ Some do and are like ghost hunters for they want to know more about dark matter.
Some people associate dark matter with the Cosmic Spider and others are calling it a cosmic spider web. Are there tons of spiders in space? People think dark matter will destroy luminous matter. While some people link dark matter and cosmic spider webs with evil, dark matter is neutral and a part of nature. The Native Americans knew something about outer space because they respected the Spider Goddess of the cosmos. Some believe that there are giant spiders walking through space.
It puts into perspective the Spider Queens of science fiction genre. Or the idea that the Norns, cosmic goddesses of Norse mythology, weave and spin threads of fate, the Web of Wyrd. The Norns might be spider goddesses. If not in arachnid form, but human in appearance with distinctive spider traits. Many goddesses in myths and legends are linked with spinning, weaving, threads and spinning wheels.
What we know is that dark matter is a part of nature and isn't destructive. It may even be a separate universe altogether.  So when we reach October the 31st, it isn't just Halloween but Dark Matter Day!

The Uncanny

The horror flick from 1977 is "The Uncanny". Directed by Denis Heroux, and starred Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasance and Ray Milland. It's all about cats being the dominant species and involved in killing sprees. The film features stories within the film itself, when an author visits a publisher to get a book about the "evil nature of cats" read. We visit different periods of history, when a heiress and owner of cats on her deathbed is betrayed, when an orphan is bullied by her cousin, and when an actor kills his wife. People who hate cats and fear cats might want to skip this film.
I rate this a 6/10 for the finesse by the stars. Awesome acting skills by the felines! What do I think overall on this actual topic? LOL. What prevents cats from taking over the world are dogs!
