The Godsend (1980)

The Godsend is a 1980 horror film based on a book called The Godsend by Bernard Taylor. Directed by Gabrielle Beaumont and starring Malcolm Stoddard, Cyd Hayman, Angela Pleasence and Wilhelmina Green. A family with four children go on a picnic in the countryside, when a strange pregnant woman with piercing eyes shows up. She befriends the parents and is a guest in their home. Soon the woman enters labour and gives birth to a girl called Bonnie Blue. The woman disappears leaving her newborn daughter with the family so they have no choice but to look after her. The mother never returns, and is never found, so the baby is adopted by the family. Years pass and Bonnie Blue grows into a beautiful toddler with white hair except that she has a very sinister motive and a really dark side that involves killing. There are some nice scenic views and a lot of unanswered mysteries, like where did Bonnie Blue's real mother vanish to and most of all what was she.
I rate this a 3/10 because the nature of the film, although not gruesome or supernatural, sends chills and is sad.

Scrooge (1970)

On this time of year, nothing is complete without a film like Scrooge made in 1970. It's based on the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. There have been so many film adaptions and even animations and TV dramas but Scrooge from 1970 is the best of them all in my honest opinion. It was directed by Ronald Neame and stars Albert Finney, Alec Guinness and David Collings. To find out more of the cast check out the page below.

The film is a musical but it's a lot more than this. It's definitely spooky and it doesn't just include the three main spirits that visit Scrooge. Other ghosts including the phantom coach driver and ghost horses are chilling reminders of those who lived in times past are long since dead. The flashback to Scrooge's past made him remember that he was once happier. The film is like "Wizard of Oz" movie from 1939 in a way that it's the best version there is based on a story. Other many versions don't compete. The book and story and Scrooge 1970 are masterpieces.

I rate this a 10/10

Black Christmas

Black Christmas is a horror movie from 1974 and was directed by Bob Clark. Starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder and John Saxon. It's set in a sorority house of the Christmas season, and while the girls are having a party, a strange man climbs the walls to enter an upstairs room. Then hides in the attic. Grisly events unfold, and disturbing phonecalls to the house frightens the girls. One of the sorority sisters disappears and her pet cat is often heard making noises during the night. Police are involved because of the missing girl and the threatening phonecalls but it seems that no one knows that there is a killer inside the house.
This is a real creepy and tense thriller/horror. Rated 8/10.

Lisa and the Devil

A 1974 horror film called Lisa and the Devil. Starring Telly Savalas, Elke Sommer, Alida Valli and Sylva Koskina. Directed by the late Mario Bava, the father of Lamberto Bava the horror movies director and grandfather of director Fabrizio Bava. A family of film directors that have all made scary horrors is just awesome.
This film that I'm reviewing here is Lisa and the Devil. It's very surreal and beautiful. It's more of an artistic film that is confusing in places.
The last thing you do when you're visiting another country is to leave the tour group. This is exactly what Lisa did, the main heroine of the film. She's a damsel in distress who keeps running into a strange man who resembles the devil on an old wall painting. The streets have become empty and Lisa becomes afraid of a man with a pocket watch, who has a fatal accident. Lisa is unable to find any help, and it becomes night, and she resorts to hitchhiking in an antique car with three strangers. The car breaks down and they end up going to a large isolated house nearby, where Lisa meets the same mysterious man again.
Overall, this is a pretty good film and has a very dark Alice in Wonderland feel.
I rate this a 9/10

Unknown 2 05

This is a different kind of game where you have to escape this unknown place. It was made by First Escape Games. This particular game is called Unknown 2 05 and is part of a second series of these "unknown" locations. The other ones are set in ordinary looking places but this one is a lot different, because it's in a colourful haunted cemetery. Visually it's very beautiful and the puzzles are tricky. There is a number of interesting effects too, hidden surprises and objects that will help you discover clues. I enjoyed playing this one out of all the other FEG games. The screenshot is showing a wolf that may assist later on. I rate this game a 10/10.
