Attack of the Dead Men
Many have wondered how soldiers from WW1 and WW2 era would've reacted at meeting undead wights from "Game of Thrones". Well, this happened!
It was an event during the First World War in 1915 at the Osowiec Fortress. It was a place that was defended by a Russian garrison and then Germans decided to storm the place. They consisted of 14 infantry, a battalion of sappers, guns and a batch of poisonous mustard and chlorine gas.
In the early hours of dawn, the Germans attacked using chlorine gas. It was around the 15th August 1915. Now the Germans had known that the Russian soldiers had no available gas masks. Officers had low quality ones but the majority of Russian soldiers did not. The issued gas masks for the Germans were of superior quality and protected them from poisonous gas attacks.
Once the Russians were exposed to the chlorine gas, they were commanded by officers to use any piece of fabric to cover their faces. Hundreds of Russian soldiers began to charge towards the Germans, firing their rifles. They became a vision from nightmares. These Russian soldiers were dying and bleeding, with blood stained rags across their faces, that they resembled zombies. It was frightening and one can imagine the terror of meeting a horde of the undead. It frightened the Germans and they fled. This event became called Attack of the Dead Men.
Howls ^^
