This 2018 horror was directed by Peter Sullivan and the stars include Marisol Nichols and Brian Krause. Children disappeared in a town and there's rumour that a legendary bogeyman called Cucuy may be responsible! It takes a teenage delinquent to investigate even though she's under house arrest, because she knew some of those missing children.
While this film is rated as a 15 certificate label, the appearance of the Cucuy is nightmarish, which is enough to scare everyone. The neighbourhood creepy hideout, shock scenes and the acting is pretty good. Like most Hollywood style horror films set in modern suburbia, it's full of sunshine and bratty kids.
This character named Cucuy is based on folklore of Coco, found in many parts of the world including Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Parents told their kids stories about the Cucuy who takes naughty children. There is a female version of this monster called Cuca.
My rating of the film is 7/10.
