Circle of Fear: The New House

This is a horror anthology TV series from the 1970's, originally named "Ghost Story" and later it changed the title to "Circle of Fear". Each episode has a different tale of the spooky kind, and sometimes nightmarish. It was hosted by a fictional gentleman character named Winston Essex, owner of a haunted hotel, who introduced the stories. The first episode is "The New House", directed by John Llewllyn Moxey and stars David Birney, Barbara Parkins and Sam Jaffe.

A newlywed couple move into a new house that seems perfect in everyway, ready for the baby. The pregnant woman Eileen Travis is unnerved by hearing strange noises each night, and her husband, John, is unable to locate the intruders. Police are called out but nothing was found. As she continues hearing bumps in the night, a neighbour informs her that the house was built on a grave. Determined to find out more, Eileen visits the library.

This is a very chilling episode, which makes the viewer wonder if the house is haunted or if Eileen is suffering mental illness. I don't want to give away too much except there's a time when I think "so scary and so cute at the same time"! My rating is: a red strawberry for sweet and delicious.
