This is a 1971 mystery thriller made for tv. It was directed by Daniel Petrie and the stars includes Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman, John Rubenstein and Tyne Daly.
A woman from the city takes a long drive into a small rural town where people act strangely. There she locates her former childhood home where her stepmother tells her that her father is away on business. So many things didn't go to plan and neither making sense for her, as she feels as if she's being watched. Also there is an eerie howling coming from the woods. Others say they've not heard anything. There are shadows and buried secrets darker than the grave. A lot isn't as it seems.
There is a significant amount of horror style atmosphere with creepy vibes. There's a conspiracy and paranoia in the film, with constant thunder and lightning happening at night. Located in Nevada with scenes of picturesque Lake Tahoe, there's a lot of natural beauty as well as storyline twists. The film is based on a gothic novel of the same name by author Velda Johnston.
I rate this a cool 7/10.
