The Abominable Dr. Phibes
This is a 1971 surreal horror in the lavish style of art deco. This is the first of two films of the Dr Phibes series. There are a series of four of the cult books by William I Goldstein.
The Abominable Dr. Phibes stars Vincent price, Joseph Cotton and Virginia North. It was directed by Robert Fuest.
It has plenty of strange shocks, imaginative murders and a string of symbolism that includes the automaton band musicians, a frog mask, a gold unicorn bust and more. Dr Phibes wants revenge on the doctors who he believes failed in saving his beloved wife. She's kept in a glass coffin and there is a Snow White theme about it but this one doesn't wake up. The police are trying to understand the bizarre killings of doctors. Sometimes the film gets very twisted in such morbid comedy.
I rate this film a 9/10 (unfortunately it wasn't on long enough).
Warning: Never get on a plane without checking for rats first.
Howls ^^
